RADAR: FuG 240 Berlin N-1a (map usable)

The FuG 240 Berlin N-1a was an advanced
centimetric-wavelength air intercept
radar developed from captured British
H2S radar sets. It was impervious to
contemporary British jamming, and uti-
lized a reflector dish antenna to boost
its effectiveness. The dish was mounted
underneath a special nose cone fitted to
the 10 Ju88G-7c's to receive this radar
set before the end of the war. The Berlin
radar was also planned for use on the
Ju388 and the Me262B-2a.
Due to the design of the "primitive" jet
engines, the German jets of WWII were
very vulnerable during take-off and lan-
ding. Acceleration and low speed perfor-
mance of the engines was less than perfect.
As a result, jet operations had to be co-
vered by prop-pushers, which prevented
Allied attacks on airfields at the jets'
most vulnerable moments.
