Hs 129 GUNNERY PRACTICE

The need for close support, anti-tank
aircraft on the Russian Front was obvious
and urgent. One answer was the Ju87G-1
"tankbuster" ground support aircraft.
Another was the Hs129 series. Slow by
fighter standards, pilots also complained
of the reduced visibility of the cockpit
and the lack of ability by the engines to
absorb battle damage. On the plus side,
firepower was significant. The Hs129B-2
carried 2 x MG17 7.9mm machineguns with
500 rounds per gun, and 2 x MG151 20mm
cannon with 125 rounds per gun. The
Hs129B-2 also carried either A> MK101
30mm cannon with 30 rounds, B> four
additional MG17 7.9mm mgs with 250 rounds
per gun, C> or 4 x 110 pound bombs, D> or
1 x 551 pound bomb, E> or 96 x 4.4 pound
SD-2 antipersonnel bombs, beneath the
centerline.

                    YOUR MISSION

Take off from the Luftwaffe airfield
to intercept two Soviet Yak 9-Ds
flying low past the field. There are
other Soviet aircraft flying in this
area, so look around once you've defeated
this pair. Practice deflection shooting
against these non-agressive opponents.
Your Hs 129 cannot be damaged and has
unlimited ammunition.
Your mission will not end automatically.
You must choose to quit. Please see your
reference guide for instruction on how to
quit, as well as information on other
controls.
