DESPERATION

During the winter of 1941/42, the
Russians launched major counteroffensives
to take advantage of the severe weather
and the German lack of preparation.
Often, planes would crash if they
attempted to take off during snow and ice
conditions.
Still, the urgency of air support
required that desperate measures be
taken, and in that regard the "Zerstorer"
units were often called on to act as
flying "fire brigades" when Soviet forces
effected a breakthrough.

MISSION

As a member of III./ZG 26, you are to
take off from your base and attack a
large breakthrough of Soviet armored
vehicles which is threatening Army Group
South headquarters. Your wingman has
crashed attempting to take off, and the
rest of the squadron's engines are frozen
solid, so it's up to you. The mission is
a failure if less than 7 armored vehicles
(individual flak guns) are destroyed.

NOTES

This is a snow mission.
