               The Lockheed F-80C Shooting Star

The most numerous and last of the fighter versions of
the P-80, the F-80C (the designator changed from P to F in
1948) featured a more powerful Allison J33-A-23/35 engine
which raised the top speed to 594 mph at sea level, which
degraded to 543 mph at 25,000 feet. Other than the engine
change, other changes were mostly minor. The 6 x .50 cal
machineguns were retained, although rocket and bomb options
were added. This module contains an option for the Aeromite
Mighty Mouse 2.75 inch FFAR (folding fin aerial rocket) air-
to-air unguided missiles, which were just being developed.
These were normally ripple-fired in groups from pods.
SPECS: Top speed 543 mph at 25,000 feet; cruise speed 439
mph; range 1,380 miles; climb 6,870 fpm; ceiling 46,800.
